In my excitement about pineapples yesterday, I completely forgot to include the new circuit workout I did after my run yesterday.
During this thing I didn’t think it was so bad, but today, I AM SORE!! My legs, especially with those single leg squats. Good thing I have running group tonight to take an easy run and work it out.
Any who. Yesterday, my friend Jenna texted me with a hot yoga groupon. $35 for 10 classes. Considering a single class is $20, I figured this is a great deal to try it out and get a real feel for what it is all about. So, we dove in and bought them together yesterday. This is especially good because one of my goals for this year was to go to a yoga class once a week. The only one that my gym offers that works with my class schedule is on Friday afternoons and the past few weeks I have been having things come up that have kept me from going. (Excuses, excuses, I know)! However, now that we will be going together and scheduling it once a week, it is more built in my schedule now (accountability baby)!
Tomorrow will be class one. I am going to get a mile or two in first (gotta stay on the April Streaking) then heading over, which I will hopefully not regret. Until then, I will be drinking water like its running out!
Have you ever tried Hot Yoga? Am I going to die?
Today was my January 1st. I drank all of my 8 glasses (plus some) of water and ate like a true healthy champion!
I easily met my 5 fruits/veggies today. For lunch I made an omelet with spinach (1), crushed tomatoes (2), feta cheese and three eggs. It whipped up so quick due to my slight cheating. I had a can of crushed tomatoes in the cabinet and I don’t think I will ever make it another way now. It was so easy and the flavor and consistency was awesome in the dish. I even had a serving of carrots (3) with hummus while I was waiting for it to cook.
Its not pretty, but it was delicious
As a snack before running group I had a HUGE honey crisp apple (my new favorite) (4). Fo r dinner we had a stir fry with more spinach, onions, peppers, mushrooms (5-7) with brown rice and some stir fry sauce.
Other than a good day of eating, I took Scarlett for her last set of boosters so now (other than her spay) we don’t have to go back for a whole year. She weighs 25 pounds now…I can hardly believe how fast she is growing.
I finished my book, The Book Thief and highly recommend this one!
What I loved most about this one is that it is written from the perspective of a German girl living through World War II. I went through a spurt in middle school where I read so many books about WWII but they were all about the Jewish struggle. This book really showed that it wasn’t all peaches and cream for the German citizens living there during this time. I was able to get it from the library on my new kindle and was afraid I wouldn’t finish it in time (2 weeks) but I flew through it even though it was rather long!
Finished up today with my first run of 2013 run with the group at Lululemon. We did a five miler at a brisk pace and I ran 4 miles before I got there to make sure I got in my 9. I kinda did the important components of both Tuesday and Thursday’s runs (4 miles at MP and 3 mile repeats). Since both of those aspects were accomplished, I will run my nine miler tomorrow at an easy pace.
Feels good to have a day to be proud of both in my diet and activity!
How did your first run of 2013 go?
So I will do the obligatory exercise part of update first, then get to the exciting part of my day!
I switched up my Wednesday and Thursday on the schedule which I will probably do fairly often because I love running with the group at Lululemon down town and they only run on Wednesday. They do 3 and 5 mile runs and today I had to do 7 so I strategically placed myself 2 miles away from the store and ran to the start of the group run.
We started all together (the 3 and 5 mile groups) and then got caught up chatting and got ahead of the 5 mile group with two of the people from the 3 mile group and were all discombobulated. At about half way we all regrouped and figured who wanted to do which distance and continued on. In the last mile my competitive side took over and another guy and I kept pushing the pace which was a fun way to finish.
After the group runs is the best part. We went to a local bar/restaurant, the mellow mushroom and I had a bit too much of a half price bottle of wine and a house calzone. I feel terrible that I didn’t take a picture of the deliciousness I called dinner. When it came I said “this is huge, I will have to take the other half home for lunch tomorrow,” which turned out to be a huge joke because you know I ate the whole darn thing. The group is awesome, each person there is just great and come from different backgrounds and are so fun to get to know and pass the miles with. If I haven’t stressed it enough, if you haven’t tried a group, go try it because I leave happy I went every time!
Now to the great great great news…
The lady I called yesterday called me back with a proposition about a dog she has. I was in class when I got this message so I anxiously endured the rest of my class until I could call her back. When I did, she told me that she had a girl shepherd with an umbilical hernia that she would sell us for a much cheaper rate since we just wanted her for a pet.
Love of my Life
So this is her. She is 8 1/2 weeks old. We have no idea what we are going to name her and we haven’t even met her yet (we are going on Saturday). I am so excited I can hardly contain myself and I know it is going to be even worse once we go meet her and then can’t bring her home until a week after that!
