Successful Yassos!

So crunch time is by no means fun but it is going.  I have been solid getting work in but I can’t help but feelings like time is slipping away and I can’t jam all the stuff I need to know for this exam in my head!  At this point the people at Starbucks all know me by name and are super friendly which I 100% appreciate; plus they only charge me the refill brewed coffee price which is awesome.  Fifty cents for 2 hours of solid study time and avoidance of Atlanta traffic = double score!

I had my hardest round of Yasso 800’s tonight and was able to do all 8 under a 6:55 pace which is supposed to mean that I will be able to PR in my race.  During reps 4 and 5 I had some horrible side cramps (first on the left, then the right) because it is now 80 degrees when I am running and I am not hydrating effectively yet.  I’ll tell you though, you only have to get those side cramps a few times before you start guzzling water all day long!

On another note, it seems that my friends all know I am slowly going crazy and they are taking turns reminding me that the end is near and that I have amazing support from all angles!

At dinner Saturday, Lindsey and Jenna gave me this beautiful bracelet which I love.  I never ever want to buy things like this but once I have them, I wear them all the time.  I love it and love looking down and thinking of them both every day, getting me one day closer to Charleston.

Then today in the mail I got an absolutely touching card from my friend Megan from home with two Alex and Ani bracelets that have immense meaning in our lives.  One is living water which is so appropriate because we met on the beach patrol and will forever have the ocean calling us home (as cliche as that sounds).  The other one is called “because I love you friend.”  She also wrote an amazing message to me that put some major kick in my pants to live up to the person my friends think I am!

Time to get to bed so I can do it all over again tomorrow!!

Happy Thanksgiving

After an incredibly busy day yesterday getting ready I am enjoying this moment to relax with a cup of coffee before the craziness begins.

This just in, the balloons will fly…yay!!!

Anyway…yesterday was a serious prepping day so I knew every minute counted which meant waking up 20 minutes before needing to be at work nearly sent me into a tail spin.  Somehow (I swear teleportation must have been involved) I made it 2 minutes late which was pretty lucky.

I was able to work a half day and from 12:00 to 11 I…

  • Baked Apple and Pumpkin Pie

  • Baked Yeast Rolls
  • Cleaned Kitchen and Living Room
  • Did laundry
  • Got my TB test read
  • Took Scarlett to the vet
  • Ran 7 miles
  • 30 minute Nike Training Club Work out (sore butt this morning, let me tell you)
  • Grocery shopped for last minute stuff
  • Put up our Christmas Lights!!  (will get a picture of these today)!

Crazy right, I am tired just thinking about it!  Luckily though my head popped off the pillow this morning.  I had dreams all night of everything that could go wrong.  By the way, I am not sure if I mentioned this or not but I am making the full thanksgiving feast this year!  This will be my first time ever!

Casey’s dad is coming over to make breakfast and we have a bunch of friends coming by for some morning festivities so I have been doing as much pre-cooking as I can to get out of his way when he gets here.

More importantly, I think it is important to think of all the things you are thankful for on this day (and really every day).  I have so much to appreciate about my life.  Love and support from friends and family in every aspect of my life, be it school or running or anything I decide to do.  My beautiful puppy girl who we got a year ago today.  For my legs that carry me through the beating I put on them each and every day!  And also for the simple things like a roof over my head and food to eat each day.

To all my friends and family at home, I miss you and will be thinking of you especially today!

Off to peel some potatoes!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!

So remember Friday, when I was in happy I-just-did-great-on-my-test-so-I-don’t-mind-running-in-the-cold-windy-rain.  Well that girl is gone and I would like some good weather please!  Will I get so lucky…thats a negative!

I Hate you Accuweather!

I hate you Accuweather!

We have literally had one day it hasn’t rained since Friday, and it was yesterday and I had a rest day.  I should have looked at the forecast and changed that rest day, but hind sight is 20/20 right?

So this girl begrudgingly drug herself into the gym and ran on the treadmill, surviving 6.33 miles thanks to Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Joey and Ross.

Bright shining light in my day though!  My running group I was with every Wednesday night that changed the day to Saturday is returning to Wednesday night starting next Wednesday.  I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself!

Hope you are having better running weather karma than this girl is!

The stockings are hung, by the chimney with care…

Christmas Eve night has arrived!

First to catch up on yesterday.  I actually got done everything on that dreaded list!  Breakfast with my grandpa (whom I call Grouch) was good.  I came home and went for my run and conditions couldn’t have been better (minus the lingering soreness from the field hockey!).  I donned my new under armor bra and cold gear top, the tights Casey got me for my birthday and my new Lululemon gloves and was more than comfortable (with no blasted wind!)

I highly recommend these.  On the website they didn’t get the best review but I adore them.  I will never probably be running in 10 degree weather with a blizzard so I can’t comment on those conditions but they kept me toasty in a sunny 35.  The best part is that the silvery tips on the thumbs and pointer fingers ACTUALLY WORK on my iphone.  I had no expectation for these to work because it seemed too good to be true but they worked as good as my bare hand!

Anyway, as I was putting in my 15 miles yesterday, I remembered how great of a place I am from.  I saw canals, the beach, a forrest, downtown all in one short run.

It is just stunning and oh so small and quaint.  I just love it!

We took Scarlett to the beach for the first time!  She loooooved digging in the sand!  We hit my grandparents for dinner, I went to the bon fire for my friend and finally made it to the bar with my two best friends from high school/the beach patrol.

AND to top off yesterday, I won my fantasy league!!

Which brings me to today.  I went to my breakfast with my friend Hannah and Jess.  So now I can finally reveal my pinterest project!

She gets the SC one and I will take the PA one back with me.  I will put directions up soon when its not so wild and crazy and busy!

My mom and I wrapped presents galore, did some last minute errands, I got my run in for today and then we settled into our christmas traditions.

I always give my gifts to my family the night before so they don’t get overshadowed by the grander gifts from my parents so I gave my dad a pair of ear buds that I read in Runner’s World are good for running/working out.  I got each of my brothers a pair of dri fit nike shorts with their NFL teams on them (Eagles and Ravens) and I got my mom a Kindle Paperwhite since her birthday was earlier in the month as well.

Then we put on Elf and played the card game Phase 10.  We have done this every year for as long as I can remember!  The game lasted so long this year and Scarlett certainly didn’t make it easy to play on the floor!  Now I sit in bed and will hope to fall asleep soon since there will be a knock at my door that will probably come at like 6 am because my brothers are still young.

If you made it through this long winded post I am impressed.  I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas Eve and that you have a very peaceful, joyful, spectacular Christmas Day!

I’m curious though, what are your families Christmas/Holiday traditions?
